Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Indonesian Physical Review undergo an initial editorial screening followed by a double-anonymous peer review process. In this process, the identities of the authors are concealed from the reviewers, and the identities of the reviewers are concealed from the authors.

Initial Editorial Screening

The editorial team evaluates each submission to determine whether it complies with the journal’s focus and scope, author guidelines, ethical requirements, and minimum standards of scientific quality. The manuscript may be returned to the authors for technical corrections or rejected without external review if it is outside the journal’s scope or does not meet the journal’s requirements.

Reviewer Assignment

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are normally evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript and disclose any potential conflict of interest before accepting the review assignment.

To maintain double anonymity, the editor removes the author's names, affiliations, acknowledgements, and other identifying information from the manuscript submitted for review. The editorial team also ensures that reviewer identities are not disclosed to the authors.

Review and Editorial Decision

Reviewers assess the manuscript’s originality, scientific validity, methodology, clarity of presentation, significance of the findings, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Based on the reviewers’ reports, the editorial decision may be:

  • Accept;
  • Minor revision;
  • Major revision; or
  • Reject.

When revision is requested, authors must submit a revised manuscript accompanied by a point-by-point response to the reviewers’ comments. A revised manuscript may be returned to the original reviewers or evaluated by the editor, depending on the nature and extent of the revisions. More than one round of review may be conducted when necessary.

The final decision on publication is made by the editor after considering the reviewers’ recommendations, the authors’ responses, and the manuscript’s compliance with the journal’s editorial and ethical standards.

Editorial board members must not participate in decisions concerning manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest. In such cases, the manuscript will be handled by another qualified editor.
